11/21 Fort Worth Botanic Garden

We started our Thanksgiving Odyssey to the Grand Canyon with a stop in Fort Worth for their splendid botanical gardens.

I had recently assigned a "Finding Fall" neighborhood naturalist activity to students, which proved to be much harder than it should have been as Houston hasn't been having any kind of fall at all! The Japanese Garden here more than made up for all we had been missing!

This whole place is gorgeous, but we had previously confined our exploration to the Japanese Garden. This time we spent the day and wandered into every area that was still open - the Fuller Garden, the Four Seasons Garden, the Cactus garden, the Texas Native Boardwalk and a wonderful story walk garden set up in the pollinator area out front!

They've had an unusually warm fall also and we were treated to lovely displays of confused camellias, azalea, and wisteria as well!
